Who We Are
Our Story
The Past
Pain, regardless of its source, has a way of making us sensitive to things around us.
Very early in ministry my wife, Rodetta, and I were faced with multiple painful situations causing hurts so deep I was prepared to quit vocational ministry. But God in His sovereignty had other plans. He was about to use those painful experiences for the conception of Care for Pastors (CfP). What the enemy had meant for my destruction, God would use for good.
Well over 30 years ago, God very clearly impressed on me the vision of Care for Pastors, a place where pastors could feel safe to be vulnerable and honest with ministry and married life struggles. After several years of personal healing and preparation, in 2004 CfP was birthed as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ministry. At the time, I was leading a church plant that was started in 2000, and once again God used some very painful situations in the church to prepare me to lead CfP. But birth doesn’t come without pain.
In 2011, Rodetta and I stepped aside from leading the church plant to serve Care for Pastors full-time. Thirty-plus years of ministry had helped prepare us for our next chapter of ministry caring for pastoral families.
The Present
Today, we offer multiple levels of care for the entire pastoral family.
We have had the privilege of coming alongside 1,000s of pastors, spouses and pastors’ kids (PK’s) over the past eleven years and we’re so thankful to help on their ministry journey and see them finish well.
We offer on-site and virtual counseling and coaching for pastors, spouses, and PKs, as well as on-site week-long counseling for pastors and spouses.
We are regularly refining and evaluating all our current services.
The Future
We continue to add to our current areas of care that have a proven track record of success.
Areas of care currently under development are as follows:
- Trauma Care
- Financial Planning program to help pastors plan for their future.
- Spanish speaking pastoral coach/counselor
- Placement Service where healthy pastors can be connected with healthy churches.
- Plans for CfP to continue after the founders are gone, through our Legacy Giving.
Without apology, the goal over the next 5 years is for Care for Pastors to become one of the preeminent providers of Pastoral Family Care in the nation.
