Do You Want to Be a Go-Getter?

    Monday, August 11, 2014

I felt the following devotion from Holly Gerth would relate well with us as Pastors’ Wives because we are all running full speed ahead. So I pray it will speak to you in whatever season you find yourself.

“I’m a girl who knows what it’s like to live on the go. Full schedule. Full speed.

But I didn’t know this: Living that way doesn’t always get you where you think it will.

It led me to a place of burnout, exhaustion, and stress. So the last few years God has     been teaching me about heart rest.

And it’s in those places of trust I’ve found what I thought I had to strive for: peace, joy,   acceptance.

I was running after things that had been with me all along.

So take this word of caution from someone who’s lived it…

Before you become a go-getter, make sure you really want what you’re going to get.

It’s okay to slow down. You’re already loved.”

Don’t let the stress of ministry burn you out. Learn to balance ministry and family and quit trying to live up to everyone’s expectations.

Help us continue providing resources of care for pastors and their families.
