We as Christians are all guilty of holding onto things in our lives. Whether it be unforgiveness, bitterness, a sin, or just wanting to control things. We must make a daily decision to “Let go and let God.” Is that easier said than done? Yes! We must die to ourselves and allow God to be in control of our lives.
Since I’m writing this to pastors’ wives, this doesn’t pertain to us does it? Of course it does, we are human just like everyone else. And just when we think we have it mastered, Satan sticks his ugly head in. I want to share a blog written by a pastor’s wife that speaks to this and pray it will be a blessing to you.
What’s bugging you? Driving you crazy? Hanging around your mind and tormenting you? Do you need to forgive? Do you need to confront? Do you need to repent? Do you need to give it to God for good, so that He can deal with it and you can move on with your life in peace?
The devil wants to get in our heads. He wants us to torment ourselves with the past and everything we should or shouldn’t have said or done. He also seeks to destroy our hope for the future. He does this by telling us that people and things will never change. He tells us we are stuck and it’s hopeless. Satan knows our weak spots and he is so patient with his plans to destroy us and make us useless. Oh, he is good at what he does, deceiving. And at times, we just fall right into his game. So sad.
God wants us to trust Him to handle what we or others have messed up. He wants us to let go and quit trying in our own efforts to change things and people. He’s saying, “Let go and watch me work. Stop trying to make sense out of everything and let Me carry your burden for you. Stop living in fear and torment. There is nothing that happens to you that I am not aware of. You’re in my hands. Let me help you. Let me give you rest and peace. I can only do this when you stop listening to Satan and start trusting Me. There is no problem too big that I can’t solve. Are you willing to give Me your fears, pain, regrets and problems? Are you willing to give me access to it all and let go of it forever?”
The devil wants to take from you. He is seeking to destroy everything good in your life. God wants to give to you. He is longing for you to open your heart and receive His love, peace and security. Who will you serve with your thoughts today? The taker or the Giver?
2 Chronicles 20:15b – “Be not afraid nor dismayed….for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
It’s okay to reach out for help. That’s why Care for Pastors exists, to help those who minister to others. We should know better than anyone that many times God uses people to help others. Don’t let your pride and fear keep you from getting the help you need.

No matter how long we have been saved, this will be a struggle until the day we die. But the more we surrender and allow God to control our lives the easier it gets. We are here to walk with you on your ministry journey. Please let us know how we can help.
