I don’t know about you, but I feel the lack of motivation Monday mornings. Sometimes it’s just not wanting to deal with mundane things, sometimes it’s flat-out temptation to ignore God and everything He is doing, and all the encouragement felt on Sunday, as if it never happened.
But the church on Sunday must be the church on Monday too. And we are the church. If we leave the pew and go on with our Monday selves without clinging to Jesus as we did the day before, what impact, are we making besides the impression left of us sitting in our seats. Are we holding onto the seat more than the Savior? Are we more eager for our morning coffee than talking to the Lord?
Do we truly understand that everything we do and say, has the power to either push people towards or away from God.
Whether our Mondays are busy or slow, what is our attitude reflecting?
Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41
Oh, how quickly the flesh forgets what is truly good. Our love for Jesus isn’t supposed to be for just a few hours a week. But how often do we look at the time during the sermon? During prayer? As if we can’t give even those few hours, let alone the rest of the week to the One who gave All.
Therefore, let him who thinks he stands take heed so that he does not fall. No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:12-13
For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15
We cannot stand without Him. And yet so often I reach the point of having to crawl in agony before I recognize my need to just trust and obey Him. It’s not because I’m ignorant of my weakness, but it’sso easy for my flesh to think I can do this by myself.
There are new reasons to praise God every day, every day His mercies are new. May we be overfilled with the blessings of the Lord’s Day and carry it with us even on those early Monday mornings. May Monday morning Christians be as faithful as Sunday morning.
