“Jesus, Help!”
Looking Back on a Difficult Season
This morning as I began my morning devotion, I pulled out an old favorite…. 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 and saw this…what I had written exactly one year ago:
Friday, 8-8-25
— We close in 5 days.
— Jay has COVID.
— Jesus, help us.
Gosh. Memories came flooding back…the kind of hard memories that, for just a moment, put you right back in the hard.
It was one of the most challenging seasons of our lives. So much uncertainty. So many things completely outside of our control. So many days when I didn’t have a beautiful prayer or some profound declaration of faith.
When Three Words Become Your Prayer
Sometimes all I had was:
“Jesus, help us.”
And He did.
Maybe not always in the way I expected.
Maybe not on the timeline I wanted.
Maybe not by removing every hard thing.
But He held us through it and He is still holding us.
Built on the Rock
What really caught my attention this morning was the Scripture printed on the page beside my desperate little prayer:
Matthew 7:24–25.
Jesus talks about the wise man who built his house upon the rock. The rain came. The floods rose. The winds blew and beat against that house…
but it did not fall.
Not because the storm wasn’t strong.
Not because the rain didn’t come.
Not because life wasn’t hard.
It stood because of what it was built on.
God’s Faithfulness Through the Storm
And THAT is the reason we made it.
Jesus
Looking back, I can see His faithfulness in places where, at the time, all I could see was the storm.
Keep Building on the Rock
And Sis, if you’re in one of those seasons right now…. the kind where you don’t know what’s going to happen next, and your prayers have been reduced to three words…
“Jesus, help me.”
𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸!!!!
The storm may shake you.
The wind may beat against you.
There may be days when you wonder how much more you can take.
But when your life is built on Jesus, the storm doesn’t get the final word.
A year ago, I wrote Jesus, help us.
Today, I got to write:
Thank You, Jesus. You did.
“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall…” Matthew 7:25
