    Flip the Script

    By Christy K.

“God doesn’t care about you or your circumstances.”

    “You can’t change.”

    “You’re never good enough.”

“You can fix it yourself (or you can fix yourself).”

How encouraging is THAT for today? It isn’t! It’s discouraging and deceiving! It’s all lies! Straight from the pit of Hell – from your enemy! How many times do we hear the little voice, maybe even our own, speaking these lies over ourselves? More often than we care to admit!

Jesus said it in John 10:10: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

So many of us quote the first part of this verse, but our voices drop off a little on the second part – which is the MOST important part! We have become so used to this verse, that it is JUST A VERSE and not the promise from our Lord and Savior!

Jesus said it! He tells us that He came that we have abundant life! Not a life full of lies and discouragement. But where are we at the moment?

The fact is, even though we serve in our churches, especially because we serve in our churches, we are under attack! We become dulled to the enemy’s tactics, or worse, we can see it happening to others but not ourselves.

I want to remind you, dear ones, that now’s the time that we flip the script! Your enemy knows the chaos you live in and he applies the pressure at every opportunity. That’s why we have to have an arsenal ready to use to combat his lies and attempts at upsetting our lives. I’ve said this before, Satan doesn’t want you to worship him, he only wants to distract you so much that you are ineffective for Christ and don’t worship the One True God!

Continually filling ourselves with God’s Word on our own has to be a priority in our lives. I know we hear our husband’s sermons (most of the time), and I know we prepare for the lessons we sometimes teach, but we must take the time to nurture His Word in our hearts with our own time with Him. Filling our ears and hearts with praise music, reminding ourselves of certain scripture defining who He is and who we are in Him is a must in our days of worry, chaos and frustration.

It’s time to flip the script. Expose the lies and embrace the Truth.

Satan’s lie: God doesn’t care about you or your circumstances.

Jesus’s Truth: “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (emphasis mine) (Luke 12:6-7)

    Satan’s lie: You can’t change.

John’s reply, inspired by the Holy Spirit Truth: “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” You are from God and He is in you! (1 John 4:4)

Satan’s lie: You’re never good enough.

God’s Truth: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, (emphasis mine) created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Satan’s lie: You can fix it yourself (or you can fix yourself).

God’s Truth: Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit – “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)

Remember Deuteronomy 6: 4-8? “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.

Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”

Write these verses on post-it notes, index cards, whatever you have and place them on your doorframe, your bathroom mirror, your car dash. Impress them on your children and YOU! Remember Whose you are!

Our Father gives us all we need to face the trials and confusion in this world and Jesus said Himself, that He has overcome the world! So rest in Him, girlfriend, and let His Truth wash over you. Flip the script!
