    Didn’t See it Coming

    Monday, May 29, 2023

How many times have you thought or said, “If only I had seen that coming?” Carey Nieuwhof in his book “Didn’t See It Coming” asked that question himself and now in this book answers how you can prepare yourself for some things by paying attention.

One of the areas we are most often taken by surprise in ministry is the sense of loneliness, being disconnected amid a world of serving people. He explores the culture we live in right now and asks many good questions so that we can prepare ourselves for times when we are standing in a room full of people we know and still feel lonely and not involved. Disconnected.

He gives some practical reasons for this and some actions to put into place to help avoid getting trapped in loneliness that you didn’t see coming or maybe never anticipated being an issue of ministry.

He dives into the art of conversation that can be engaging and not disinterested interactions that we often experience.

His writing style is engaging and conversational. Almost as if you are across the table from him and talking through real life issues in real time. You may even find yourself asking “How did he know that, that’s where I am RIGHT NOW?”

He writes and discusses several other circumstances that you may not see coming and gives each great thought and some insightful answers to avoid the surprise of not being prepared.

So, pick up this book and prepare to be given insight, encouragement and hope that you can avoid some things that you don’t have to experience unaware.

Help us continue providing resources of care for pastors and their families.
