This is the first in a series of testimonies and conversations that I would like to have with you. It’s important that I do this, because you need to understand that Care for Pastors is a real and legitimate organization and that I am a real and legitimate person, and a real and legitimate Minister of the Gospel. For this reason, I have chosen not to protect my identity, but rather, to allow you to know exactly who I am and exactly how Ron Cook and the ministry of Care for Pastors changed and continues to change my life. I will not be going into great detail about the journey I took away from God, because as Pastor Ron always says, “details aren’t important.” Instead, I will give you a background on myself and my ministry, and will share with you the events that led to my decision to pursue a career in ministry, the events and decisions that led me to flee from a career in ministry, and finally the events and decisions that have prompted me to pursue my original calling– all over again. I’m not perfect, nor am I immune from future mistakes—-the road to restoration involves progress, NOT perfection—but it is a road worth walking.
This is not an easy thing for me to do, as I have tried to “lay low” and have shared this with only a handful of people, but I convinced that the time is right and that for the body of Christ to be truly effective, we must put down our defenses, air our problems, and as the great song by Casting Crowns says “close the curtain on our stained glass masquerade.” I’m looking forward to sharing this and getting to know you as we walk together on this journey towards restoration. But let me warn you. I am not a religious person. I’m raw, real, and ready to end the cycle of hidden realities as they pertain to the church. Don’t expect a bunch of religious talk and big words in an attempt to make myself sound as though Jesus loves me more than you.
If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of then join me each week in this very real series of conversations. I’m looking forward to using my life experiences and my experience with Care for Pastors to help change lives in the way that mine has been changed. See you next week.
He loves us!
Geoffrey
